Bruce Willis
Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is
well-known for his wisecracking and hard-edged roles in action movies. In
total, he's appeared in films that have grossed in excess of $2.5 billion USD.
Walter Bruce Willis was born on the 19th of March, 1955 in the city of
Idar-Oberstein (West Germany) to Marlene Kassel and David Andrew Willis (from
Carneys Point New Jersey), both of them living on a United States military
base. The family moved to the U.S. soon after he was born. Willis was born in
Penns Grove by his mother, who worked at an institution, and his father, a
welding employed in a factory and welder. Willis started to take an interest in
the dramatic arts at high school. He was "discovered" while working
in an New York City cafe. Later, he appeared in numerous off-Broadway
productions. A night, he was working as a bartender and was noticed by a
casting director who liked his personality. He needed a bartender to play one
small part in a movie. Willis was involved in numerous auditions prior to
getting the role in the cult romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David
Addison. His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is the highlight of his
professional career. His hilarious and wisecracking P.I. is often seen as a
test run for his character John McClane, the hardboiled NYC detective in Die
Hard (1988), which saw Willis battle a gang ruthless international thieves at
an Los Angeles skyscraper. In Die Hard 2 (1990) in which he reprised the role.
A group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers is trying to restore a corrupt
South American general. They are set in Washington's Dulles International
Airport. A record-breaking box office performance prompted an additional
sequel, Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) with a new co-starring Samuel L.
Jackson as an unrepentant Harlem shop owner who accidentally gets to assist
McClane during a terrorist attack campaign in the midst of a hot summer day in
New York.
