Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell
was a member of the cast of Saturday Night Live before going on to star in
big-screen comedies such as 'Elf "Anchorman," as well as Talladega
Nights. Will Ferrell was born in Irvine in the year 1967. He started his comedy
career as part of the group from Los Angeles called The Groundlings. After his
highly acclaimed seven-year stint as a member of the cast of Saturday Night
Live, he became one of the movie industry's biggest comedic draws through
off-color movies like Old School (2003) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron
Burgundy (2004). Ferrell was also a co-founder of the video streaming site
Funny or Die and enjoyed great success in voice acting in animated films such
as Megamind (2010). John William Ferrell was conceived in Irvine, California on
July 16, 1967. The youngest child of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell
and teacher Kay Ferrell, Will was--by his own admission--not the class clown as
when he was a student at University High School. He was calm and reserved, but
he chose to play football, setting a school record for the most field goals
made. Ferrell was more of a relaxed person at home in the suburbs and didn't
show the same outrageous or funny expressions later in his career. "Very
even-tempered, and very comfortable," his mother recalled in an interview
with Esquire. "You do you remember those tiny Matchbox cars?" Will
arrange his Matchbox cars completely by himself and be completely satisfied.
You'd ask, "You want to go to Disneyland today?" and he'd think about
the idea. Ferrell wasn't exactly a straight-laced man. When he made the regular
announcements using the PA system, a glimpse into his comical skills was
revealed each morning at high-school. Ferrell received his degree from the
University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 1986. He was a member of
Delta Tau fraternity, and pursued a degree for sports journalism.
