Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family and she moved to the United States when she was just three. Summer was a student at British and American schools while her family lived overseas, She returned to her home town of Pasadena just short of her 14th birthday. Passionate about the idea of acting since the age of five, Summer took her first acting class at 14. Nine months later, Summer signed with an agent and a manager , and started to pursue her dream full-time. She attends college on weekends, and works toward her degree. She was among the stars who were young in Vanity Fair's August 2008 cover issue, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Hottest Kids in Hollywood". Bishil started taking acting classes when she was 14 years old. In just one year she was signed with an agent and manager. Bishil began her career on the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed to an agreement with a management and agency. Her breakthrough role came in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the book with the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, said that "Her performance in a film that , despite its best intentions seems completely fake, mildly embarrassing, and as if it were an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching is the most honest thing." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is one of the most natural film actresses ever. In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is a "...newcomer who is a newcomer, delivers an enthralling and confident performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel never made.
