Brooke Christa Shields (born May 31 1965) is an American actress and model. At age 12, she was a child model. She earned critical acclaim for her role in Louis Malle's 1978 film Pretty Baby (1978). She continued to model into her teen years, and was praised for her part in Louis Malle's 1978 film Pretty Baby. In the 90s, Shields returned to acting and appeared in small parts in films. She was also a star in the NBC sitcoms Suddenly Susan (1996-192000), where she earned two Golden Globe nominations and Lipstick Jungle (2008)-2009. Shields returned to NBC in 2017, reprising her role as the main regular character in Law & Order: Special Victims Unified's 19th season. Since 2014, Shields has voiced Beverly Goodman in the Adult Swim animated series Mr. Pickles and its spinoff Momma Named Me Sheriff. Brooke Christa Shields was born in Manhattan, New York on May 31, 1965, the daughter of actress and model Teri Shields (nee Schmon; 1933-2012) and businessman Frank Shields (1941-2003). The mother of the couple was English, German, Scotch-Irish, and Welsh origin, and her father was of English, French, Irish as well as Italian ancestry.According to the research of William Addams Reitwiesner, Shields has ancestral ties to several noble families of Italy particularly those from Genoa as well as Rome. These are namely (in chronological order of descent from 1355 to 1965) the Gattilusi-Palaiologos-Savoy, Grimaldi, Imperiali, Carafa, Doria, Doria-Pamphili-Landi, Chigi-Albani, and Torlonia dynasties. Marina Torlonia di Civitella Cisi from Civitella Cisi was the Italian noblewoman, and daughter of an American prince, was Teri's paternal grandmother. Her great-uncle was the Italian nobleman Alessandro Torlonia, the husband of Infanta Beatriz of Spain.When Teri announced that she was expecting, Frank's family gave her a payment to stop the pregnancy.
